JOH is committed to giving back. It’s not just something we talk about. JOH takes a very hands-on approach to improving the community in which we work and live.

Kids 360

Kids 360 is a nonprofit entity created by JOH. The vision of giving back to the community was woven into the fabric of JOH by the founder, Harry O’Hare. Harry spent a lifetime giving back to those in need. It is this inspiration that launched the concept of Kids 360.

Kids 360 takes a 360 degree approach to a child’s life. Whether it is providing clothes, food, medical support or school supplies, the monies raised go directly to carefully selected children’s charities.

Kids 360 is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization registered with the United States Internal Revenue Service.

Annual Charity Event

JOH has been involved in The Corporate Work Study Program since 2009 by providing six (6) students each year with an internship. The students are given their own desks and assignments. Business leadership is provided by JOH employees.

Next Up

NextUp

NextUp (formerly the Network of Executive Women) is an empowered network of women, men, allies and corporate partners working together to eliminate barriers for women in the workplace.

Knowing that female colleagues in the food brokerage industry were few and far between, Bobbie O’Hare decided to establish the New England chapter of NextUp. Her mission was to help other women in the region break through the barriers of a male-dominated industry. After starting the New England chapter in 2003, she developed the Metro NY and Northwest Arkansas chapters. She then went on to establish 15 of the 20 regional chapters, making it the powerhouse national organization it is today.

NextUp has grown by leaps and bounds over the years, and Bobbie has been joined by a number of female JOH’ers who have proudly taken on leadership roles within their regional chapters.

Greater Boston Food Bank

JOH is a huge supporter of the The Greater Boston Food Bank.

The Greater Boston Food Bank (GBFB) is the largest hunger-relief organization in New England and among the largest food banks in the country. Last year, they distributed 60.7 million pounds of nutritious food to people who struggle to have enough to eat. GBFB is committed to increasing their food distribution to provide at least one meal a day to every person in need within Eastern Massachusetts while supporting healthy lives and communities.

JOH is proud to support GBFB and frequently contributes to this organization with time, effort and capital. Chip O’Hare also provides guidance to the GBFB through his participation on its Food Industry Council.

We are delighted to assist this amazing organization make such a huge impact on the lives of people in Greater Boston.
